Quality Products

Most recently, I contracted with Quality Products (QP), an incubator, designing and building brands and landing pages for early-stage concepts. It was fast-paced, hands-on work that helped me explore new styles and learn how to test market viability and validate ideas fast.

Side projects

I took on a 7-day challenge to design a friendly app that helps users build good habits. Working only on evenings and weekends, I created Blockey, which encourages users to stay off distracting apps. Explore the prototype to see how it all came together!
Good Night Soon was a 4-day sprint to create an onboarding experience where parents generate a bedtime story from their child’s imagination in under a minute. The AI generated illustrations are gentle, abstract, and dream-like to help children settle at the end of the day.

Digbi was my start and home in UX/UI for nearly seven years. I built the brand, designed and coded the original site, and reshaped both the desktop software and app. Starting from rough beginnings, I iterated Digbi into an inviting, friendly brand.

Switched careers

To learn coding and design, I left my career as a landscape architect and began building a website. Frustrated with the results, I redesigned and recoded it over and over. Six months later, I still didn’t have much to show—but I had learned enough to land my first industry job, joining Digbi as a designer.

JJR

For the first 6 years of my professional career, I was a landscape architect for my dream firm (JJR, now known as SmithGroup), where I designed parks and plazas, created masterplans for towns and universities, and specialized in 3d modeling and rendering. Although it may not have been website or software design, the work was formative to the designer I am today.

School

I studied landscape architecture at Michigan State University, where a Bauhaus-inspired curriculum introduced me to a wide range of design principles. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for digital design, particularly through self-learning 3D modeling and rendering. While the curriculum didn’t cover it, a classmate and I dedicated our nights and weekends to mastering the craft, which became a pivotal moment in my design journey.
